Most state highways have cams and radar at many points throughout their length. Their primary use is to record traffic information, to detect when traffic flow suddenly slows down, and to aid in identifying accident locations and severity. But, in most states, these devices are not presently permitted to enforce the law.
Indeed, if I were to be issued a speeding ticket, it had best come from a human cop that pulled me over. It had best be a living, breathing PERSON enforcing the law, and not some inhumane machine.
If some bright-eyed government were to start mechanically and automatically ticketing and sending them in the mail, that would cause an uproar of such outrage that it may well plunge this country into another civil war!
But relax... that will never happen. These same so-called lawmakers would automatically receive tickets on their own bad driving habits!
