Yes that is a thrill to say the least ...
I used to live in the Midwest Just northwest of Des Moines, Iowa. I had a girlfriend that was all into storm chasing so naturally I was hooked ... this was back in the early 90's when there was not a lot of high tech equipment that was available to the general public at a reasonable price ... there was a group of us that would go out if the storms were close to see what we could capture. Needless to say that after our second close call that destroyed one car ($5800 in damage that I fixed in my shop) it scared some of us into not doing it anymore.
It was a F3 that we had been chasing and it was going away from us but suddenly started coming right back after us. We were able to take cover under a bridge overpass and we watched our 3 chase cars get blown into the ditch. One of the cars was a lighter 4WD Toyota PU and when it went into the ditch the wind got under it and lifted it up by the box and basically tossed it into the farmers corn field about 100' away.
