Title: Downloads policy 12/31/17
Post by: Itchigo on December 31, 2017, 09:43:00 AM
Starting 12/31/17 we have a new download policy. You have to participate, and be a part of the site. Replying to a topic/commenting gives you 10 credits. Uploading a file gives you 25 credits. When someone downloads that file the uploader gets 1 more credit.

Downloads are still free. You get credits by participating. Posting, commenting, and uploading are what will give you more downloads.

Right now I don't have a way to distinguish between tables/wheels/ etc. All downloads are 1 credit. You should still be able to view a wheel and rightclick/save as. You shouldn't have to use a credit on a wheel.

P.S I'm still working on allowing a user to see how many credits they have left. I'm looking where to add that code... :Study:

Seeing your credits is already enabled. When you get to the page of the file you want to download, before hitting download, you''ll see "My Credits".

It appears that it currently only tells you your current credit balance if it is zero.

Click the Mycredits. The next screen will show your credits. It works for me.

That's a great way to get everyone involved! I love the VPX tables, but the older VP9 tables play great, too! I've owned over 400 Pinball Machines since I started collecting, buying, and selling pins back in 1990, and Visual Pinball is sooooo close to the real thing! :D

Was banging my head there for a moment, now I know the rules.  Looking to update some of the older tables.

Hello and welcome!

I'm just trying to discourage lurkers is all. It just means if you want to download, you just have to participate a little. :Hi:

I like the “participate to download” model. Good idea.  Surprised not to see more activity on the forums as a result.

This is a really good idea using credits.  As long as people dont abuse it and actually post meaningful or constructive things.
I haven't seen this before, could be a good thing for other sites.
