It seems evident that the guys at Stern were avid Heavy Metal fans when that magazine came out back in the day.
I was just curious about Stern's Quicksilver table, and was wondering whatever the story could be behind the Quicksilver Lady running amok among the "fields of lava" with the "spheres of power" embedded within. Seems I've inadvertently stumbled across the direct inspiration for Joe Joos Jr's & Doug Watson's design ...
Check out Heavy Metal Magazine from July 1978. This here appears to be an almost exact copy of the backglass for the Quicksilver table!
This very issue can be purchased on Amazon, or the Heavy Metal website for $5. Finally, we'll know just what the story is behind Quicksilver! :Green:

am surprised that the Heavy Metal mag writers never sought out a lawsuit against Stern
as the backglass looks a lot like that mag cover you posted
