It is reported that you can now get Adobe Photoshop CS2 and some other Adobe software officially for free.

I still wasn't able to get it as the site seems to be overburdened.
Anyone please save a copy with an official serial number for me if you get access to it please, as I can't try
again nearly a full day later from now on and I'm not sure if the offer is still there then. I want a version for
Win 7 64 bit. The serial number should be shown near the download button at the Adobe site. One needs
an Adobe account. I already created one, but the download site wasn't available. Thank you.

I guess Creative Suite includes all of the CS2 programs such as Photoshop CS,
but they are also giving away Audition 3.0 which is an Audio Sound Editor (Hey Tii), and Illustrator CS which is a drawing program.

About Adobe Photoshop CS2: I'm not absolutely sure and I don't really know if it's a correct way to get it,
but it's still available and the serial numbers are still shown, although Adobe seems to be informed.
Today the information is published on other sites too. I think it's a little bit different, if there were working
serial numbers published from anyone else, but they directly come form Adobe.
I just downloaded Photoshop CS2 from the link I posted yesterday. The serial number is shown right from
the download link there. Who knows, maybe it's kind of promotion for the actual program versions? CS2
is from 2005, so it's more than 7 years old. If it's finally not correct, I will delete it later.

FYI I have a high speed Verizon Fios connection
and still it takes about twenty minutes for the download

Adobe is NOT giving away their CS2 software for free! Sorry ...
According to http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1114930 (http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1114930), the software provided is for existing licensed users of the CS2 software, if they need to reactivate their Adobe installations. Being older software, Adobe had decided to discontinue the server they were using for CS2 activations. The provided files will require an existing licensed serial number to allow installation. The new serial numbers that are posted with the files will then be used with the new install once authentication is approved.
I rather thought that was strange that Adobe would be just "giving away" their stuff. They may should have explained this better when they posted the fylez :P

Or openSource ... GIMP is every bit as good as Photoshop, and really is free.

It is. I find myself going to Gimp whenever there's something I don't understand in PS too. Trouble is, I don't get either...... ::)

Isn't it to understand that Adobe knows about and lets people use the software anyway?
Isn't it compareable with the pinball manufacturers who let us use roms?
There was a VP course at the old forum and I took part from the beginning, but I had to
cancel later, mainly because the freeware graphics software I used didn't work the same
as PS and I didn't find the corresponding commands in the software and I wasn't able to
translate and then find them in the german language version of the software. I used an
older version of PhotoFiltre http://www.photofiltre.com/ (http://www.photofiltre.com/), which didn't support
layers in an earlier versions. I think I tried Photoscape as well. Gimp was totally different
from view and operation. Who knows, maybe I was a table author today else. ???

I like GIMP for a lot of things, but I notice the Lighting Effects have a problem of blowing up the image/pushing the pixels out of their original positions and this behavior is not usable when adding lightning effects to decompiled RGB layers or on stripped layers which are then supposed to be re-composited on top of the original image. It blurs badly.
And the Lighting Effects > Spotlight insists on staying to the center of the image frame. I cannot move the spotlight over to where a slingshot light would be.
Maybe there's something I don't know.

for me to read, write, understand English. Additionally there are no or no special skills in scripting, graphics editing, ... (can be continued endless). And I don't have
the time and the patience, especially in relation to my demands. It's already a long time ago that I gave up the ideas and illusions, but I still think it's the best I could
have done to not crack completely. Instead I chosed to try to give back the best I can do to the community and that was mostly help and support in different situations.
Table graphics search and own photos in early times, VP+, VPMan, 3DArcade, PINemHi, forum talk, installation, gallery, ..., what else and I'm comfortable with that, but
I don't think I can be from use much in future. About FS and cabs and all the software around I don't have any clue.

See, the attraction of the precoded games is that you only add sounds and whatever images you like. But it's ok, I understand. I appreciate all you've done- even if it was before my time in the vp world. Also, you don't need to know how to do fs, or any of that. The easiest way is to build in desktop first.

The attraction was to build a table completely on my own.
I had to realise that that is unaccessible for me.
I don't want to use samples/models/patterns.
That wouldn't feel right in my conception.

It bothers me that we have an International Community of pinball players and VP is still 'English-Only".
It bothers me because Randy started VP with the intent of offering VP in English, Spanish, and in German, and it all got lost somewhere. The source code for Visual Pinball still contains basic versions for those languages.
It Really Bothers Me that I can remember talking about computer languages in 1960 and how the computer language is only for the good of the user because the language has to be translated to the computer's system of Numbers to be of use.
The words and the human languages do not even matter to the computer at all; only that the human language is correctly translated to the Numbers that the computer uses.
So it Really Bothers Me that I can remember talking about computer languages in 1960, flipping 1960, and how the languages should be written in The Native Language of each country, for the good of the user. For All People.
And yet the companies who provide our computer languages do not care at all to write the programming languages in any language but English.
Sure, Microsoft will provide Windows in a hundred different languages for the good of the user, but they and others still have not written the programming languages in any other world languages which give the user the control of their computer. That Windows can be written in a thousand different languages and still run on any computer only proves that those who are in power mean to restrict the use of computer programming languages to all people.

And I want to clarify something.
The talk in 1960 was that, because the human language was a matter of the user's own language as an easy interface to writing computer code, there was an idea to write the user interface in the International languages of the world; all languages. But the system would allow for reverse translation from computer code to whatever language the user uses, so no one would be left to learn any other language but that of the computer syntax while at the same time, the computer syntax would be as close as possible to everyday speaking languages, like BASIC. Except it would be BASIC translated to English, or translated to Spanish. Or translated to German, depending on the user's preferences.
But I suspect that it was not done that way because of the extra file sizes, though I believe that larger file sizes would be limited to the program translating the languages, not the computer scripts themselves.
The computer scripts would still be in the Numerical language of a computer, at the same size.

Oops, that's difficult to translate, sorry.
However, if all the programs would/could use standardised language files just for the user interface
that was an not to underrate improvement.

Actually vp isn't english only. I learned vari targets from a vp table not even in english.

Not exactly.
Those are comments and Dims which can be written in any language because they are custom names chosen by the script author. As long as you refer to the name as written by you, the language does not matter.
Does that script use French or English when the script says Sub Bumper1_Hit()?
Does it use statements such as "If ActiveBall = True Then
or "End Sub" instead of *I'm guessing* "Fin"?

I have built around 25 tables or so already (three years now)
and don't know squat about FS or cabs
that is but another part of this hobby but not needed for anyone to build a pin
pin making is fun and requires only that you really want to make a pin
you don't need anything else to start with
I started not knowing anything about well... most anything
and now I use Gimp2 religiously as well as WavePad Pro for sounds
but there are free versions of wavepad too for those of you who don't/can't pay for it
I can use PS but really prefer Gimp due to the ease of getting started in it
PS has a steep learning curve imo
I learned (and am still learning!) the coding for these pins
but to start just tear into an existing pin to learn how everything works
I travel to numerous websites for sounds/pics
saving as I go
I also tend to steal music off Youtube saving it through a Mozzilla app
then redoing it in wavepad either to shorten it or to make it sound better
or to save it in a different format so it will work in vp
all this in only three years and I even have learning disabilities
so for the normal person it may take even less time
(AKA Itchigo who learned all this in less than half the time it took me!
oh building a pin also requires a certain streak of masochism as well
and you may even learn a few new cuss words too!
