Can We Talk About "The War of the Visual Pinball Websites"?
« on: November 11, 2012, 09:50:49 PM »
And what was the "Mickey Fucking Mouse" incident during the Randy Davis Chat at VPF about?

DAZZ was banned over it and has declared war, promising a new Visual Pinball site as a spin-off of the Hyperspin.de site?

Starting that thread about Dazz was a bad move IMO. What good could come out of it?

I was only trying to provide something to talk about, and it didn't seem right to me. He's done the same thing at BBB, so I don't think it was intentional. It was literally a 2 second thing. Deleted, sorry guys. It was just the news of the day.

IMHO ... less drama, more pinball. If (since!) this site is supposed to be about Pinball, then let's have news about the B2S Editor, or Faralos' Flash Project, or even his Klingons vs Romulans table. These things are pinball news.

I take a hint from the VP Authors like JPSalas, Starman, Luvthatapex and such like that ... when these guys post, they offer exquisite VP tables, or answer support questions, or are interested in VP Development. I rarely find these great authors getting involved with the tedious drama that happens inevitably in web forums.

Let's keep the focus on the hobby we love ... let's not let this turn into a tabloid for the latest "General Hospital" nonsense (remember how it was all love and romance there, and then somehow it turned into international espionage? Strange ... and TOTALLY off topic! :) )

I should stated things more clear (I'm bad with that on forums): I was referring to the thread on VPF, not here :) . Though it's true, it probably won't help much. If anything, I'm staying out of that mess. :D

Like Pintrepid said, I'm all about having fun and playing pinball.

speaking of that pin ITCHIGO you made a boo boo with that template
it seems that not every OS can run it as coded
we have had quite the time getting it to run correctly on other peoples systems
it worked great on mine but others had problems with the CDBL scoring stuff
from what I gather all is well finally (see threads on it in both vpf and pn)
but what a hassle to release a pin that did not work on most  other OS's
and that is a weird thing to happen too as I never had any problem
with any of your other templates before this
any reason why it would not work as it should on other peoples computers?

faralos, I think you need to change "HTD" to "the name of your table" in the script.

There's also a possibility that the Dim Value needs to be renamed because "Value" is already in use as a Method name in VBScript. Also, you can try replacing the " " on the LoadValue line with Empty, though the first thing to do is to specify your table name in place of "HTD".

As for " ", this represents a Text String while CDbl represents a Numerical value.
When you use numbers in text strings, usually you will need to convert the text string number to a numerical value before it can be used as a number.

until I get a definite way for the fix I can't change it
it works just fine on my computer so any change I do to it
I cannot test here on my tower so I won't know if it works or not
we have had numerous ways to solve this situation going by the posts over at vpf and PN
it all depends on your OS
and changing it to KvsR  (table name) instead of HTD   I get the error too
well I most definitely will never be using this flawed template ever again

Which template is it? I have no problems with it under Windows 7. The area you are talking about is the save info. You can delete the whole paragraph, and the save info call in Game Over, and the Load Info call at Table Init.

Download the precoded table and try it, they are coded the same way. I thought that one worked ok for you?

it was the two player EM table template and yes it did work just fine for me
it was other peoples OS's that had problems running it
it still runs great over here so I can't even test the problem out
since I can't get it to crash at all on my computer
I am running with WinXP pro and have no problems
but like I said earlier check out the threads on it over at PN
the guys who posted all had different problems
so I don't know really what went wrong with it or is still wrong with it
didn't mean for you to get your knickers in a bunch over it though
as I think the guys who posted on the errors have all got it running okay now

Not to get into this too much, but I thought I'd plug Dazz's new place VPUniverse. Donation run, and he's taking a LOT of community input to put things together properly. I'm not going to give anything away, but I have heard things discussed that I've never seen on ANY pinball site. It's looking like it's going to be great.

Kewl beans! I just registered and am awaiting confirmation!
I don't have too much to say concerning cabs
but any new pin site is always good news
and it looks like it doesn't just cover cabs now that I saw it in depth

Cool, thanks for the heads up. I probably would have missed it otherwise.
