Title: What's this?
Post by: yogiholzer on January 05, 2013, 05:08:03 PM
I just discovered this available from everywhere: http://roguepinball.com/reputation.php?uid=39 (http://roguepinball.com/reputation.php?uid=39)

What is it good for and why is there a need for it for everyone in the world?

I have no idea. Reputation is something done on forums, but I never did get it.

What do you mean with "..., but I never did get it."? It's available from every web search engine.
Google for "Itchigo profile roguepinball" and it's the first result shown.

Here is your reputation report: http://roguepinball.com/reputation.php?uid=1 (http://roguepinball.com/reputation.php?uid=1)
Here is your profile: http://roguepinball.com/member.php?action=profile&uid=1 (http://roguepinball.com/member.php?action=profile&uid=1)

I mean these data shouldn't be open and available for everyone. I don't like that and I will ask
you to remove/delete my profile, if it's a wanted feature of roguepinball. Sorry.

Yogi, I'm trying to understand. Your reputation and profile you want hidden? I think right now only logged in members can see this. I'll check the settings.

What I meant was the attraction of having reputation on any site. Pinball Nirvana has "reputation power". Why it's wanted is what I don't get. A lot of forums have it though.

Yogi, if you're not a member, or not logged in, this is what you get when trying to view a profile. The reason you could see things is your browser was logging you in automaticly when you searched.

Edit: I see that those links still work when unlogged. But, what's really happening is you're being logged on by clicking them.

Hmm, maybe not, now I see them unlogged.I'll put my best man on it. Oh Pintrepid...?

No, it's available for everyone, as I wrote. No login needed. I don't like and want that.
And no, it's not by automatical login!

Yes, I want my profile hidden and reputation too and what else. It's wrong that a lot of
forums have it. Quite the contrary. None has! I don't want to see my data published
openly for everyone.

I'm sorry and I don't worry too much, but as I don't see my data safe from misuse here,
I ask you to remove/delete my account now and at once without any further request.
I hope to see/meet you at the other known places more or less soon.

Thank you.

yogi

I'll be looking into his a little later today and will update in a while. This should be cleared up shortly. Sorry for the inconvenience ...

Yogi, I was wrong. At first I thought it was my autologin was showing it. This is not the case. You are correct, and I totally agree about safety.

What I had meant before was I didn't get the attraction to having something like reputation, but most sites have it. But, having it able for non members to view is another matter entirely.

Edit: It seems to be ok now. Pintrepid said there were some remnant files left over from the forum conversion that were causing trouble.

I've gone through the server and purged the offending fylez. There are no more unauthorized Profile Views.

Hi, yogi;

There may have been some unintentional 'wordplay' above; the expression "I never did get it" can mean:
1) never did receive it
2) never did obtain it

but often also means:
3)never did understand/comprehend it
4)never did appreciate it

I believe Itchigo was employing #3.   :) Get it?

Äh, what? No, please explain in German. I don't understand/comprehend/get it.  ;D

I thought about possible different meanings and wasn't exactly sure (as often). So I
intentionally used the meaning of "to receive".

However, I just to tried to make some fun, although the real "problem" was meant serious.

3, and probably a little bit of 4 too. But you have to understand I wasn't even computer literate until 2010 or so. So a few sites I'm on is all I know. But I do take things like that seriously though. The problem is I have limited knowledge of java/html. I have to ask Pintrepid's help for a lot of things as I can't do them, and he has many things going on as well. But I can fumble around a bit and sometimes surprise you. The IP showing fix? That was me, but nopt before I crashed the site first. ;D

Whatever, keep cool, problem seems to be solved.

I'm sorry that I had to bring it up, but I discovered that by accident and I was nearly sure it's not ok that these data are published.

Well, we really appreciate your feedback about that. I have somewhat limited time for pinball these days. And Mr. Itchy be a Newbie (as he said hehehe!  ;D ). I don't always know if there's a problem like that. So it's good that you brought it to our attention. Thanks again.
