Pinball Art - What Table Is This?
« on: December 16, 2012, 07:05:37 PM »
Pinball Art is really amazing when you think about the level of detail that goes into each and every table design. Much of the detail comes at you in a psychedelic blur and it usually gets lost in the gameplay.

But have you ever taken the time to just look at the artwork and see what is in there? You'll see things in the artwork that you may have never noticed before, even on your favorite, most constantly played tables from back in your Arcade Days!

Here are two image details from the backglass of a certain pinball table. Can you guess which one?

Hmmm ... this one may be too hard ...

It's "Star Ship", by Bally, 1976. It's the same PF as Bally's Supersonic, but with different art and BG. There's some Interesting Reading at IPDB that tells how Bally had just release Wizards and Capt Fantastic, and had seen that they could succeed with licensed games. They went on to create Night Rider, which was to get on the CB-radio craze of those days. But they liked the design and the "futuristic" feel to the table, so they reworked it and that became the table we know as Supersonic.
