Table Request - Trigon VP9?
« on: August 31, 2014, 01:42:34 AM »
Hi,

Although I'm thrilled with having FS dB2S on my XP desktop, there are times when I prefer to play a lil' pinball on the ol' laptop, in my recliner, with my legs raised up. And lately, this has become even more of a habit as I have to use my 17" Dell Inspiron i5 Win 8. It has larger screen, better sound, more RAM, better video (though still only integrated) and a better i5 processor.

After installing VP on the Win 8 laptop here, I've enjoyed a couple of tables, like Kiwi's Tri Zone and UR/NF's Gorgar (his version, being faster than the actual table, made me fall in love with it ... IRL back in 1982, I hated Gorgar because it was a fast drainer and much harder to get any score before losing the ball!)

I do have Trigon for VP8. The original Trigon had alphanumeric messages that appeared in the scoring displays, such as "I LIVE!", or "You will be my slave!", and other taunting things like that. Would love to have that for my Win 8, here ... but having difficulty with VP8. Seems that there's some incompatability issues, or maybe I didn't install that version correctly.

Is/could there be a version of Trigon for VP 9? I think the game would really benefit from VP9's enhancements.

I'm thinking of starting a collection similar to Itchy's Cabinet ... might call it Pintrepid's Laptop: The Best of Desktop VP Tables. Like I said, cabs are king, and yes, I probably will have to break down and make one pretty soon. But I also like to play in the recliner when relaxing with the laptop. I thik this might be a cool library to have.

The Trigon I made is the one from vp8, playing in vp9, with a better playfield/plastics. Take the FS version and rotate it back to desktop, and keep the DESKTOP vps files. Discard the FS vps files as they contain the b2s coding.

For the Desktop repository, I can set something up. :Green: Now that I think of it I could use my torrent. :Excellent:

Yessssss!!  :Yahoo: I took a Trigon-Day and put it on the Win 8 laptop. Looks and plays FABULOUSLY using VP9.15. Shiva used a custom ball in the game ... looks great, like a VP9 ball should. You can see the decal spinning with the ball during game play.

Huh ... I still don't understand why, being a VP8 table, it will crash and burn in VP8 on the Win 8 laptop ... it's not really an issue, seeing how it plays well in VP9.

Scripting challenge to anyone who says they are a whiz at VP scripts. Take the desktop Trigon and add the alphanumeric words and flashes to the backglass on the dB2S version. Can it be done???   :Green: :Pinball:

Itchigo--you mentioned keeping the VPS files from the desktop version: Any chance you would have a location to find this?  I'm not having much luck finding it on any of the main sites...

I also have the table and it works well in both vp8 and vp9.1.5
since I can't use the newer versions of vp I don't know if it will work with them
but it uses what is called the shiva engine to power it not the regular vp scripting
don't know if it has a fs version out yet though
I am never wrong Once I thought I was
 but I was merely mistaken
