Faralos's real Flash pin

(1/2) > >>

faralos:
So I just got me this toy courtesy of Slydog43
the entire pf is ruined by the last owner who used
what looks like varnish on the play field and it's all yellowed and cracking
so that must all be stripped down and redone
the back glass is near perfect with absolutely no scratches
and the cabinet itself while solid had amateur artwork done to it
and looks it so that too will be done over
the back box is good with minor veneer damage same goes for the cab
Slydog43 assures me once it's put back together it all should work
(fingers crossed) but that is a long way off
all the play field lights are so worn as to be cupped below the pf surface
so they all must  be hammered out sanded flat then glued back in
but I did get an entire package of pin rubbers with it
along with a new driver board (just in case)
so now I can collapse in a tired. weary heap
as I moved it both out of his place and into mine!
am thrilled but so exhausted!!

Wow, Faralos, i didn't know you did restorations. And from the sound of it, this is going to be quite the project, indeed!

Is Osprey around? You might want to get some tips from him. He recently restored a Mata Hari table. He also has a Flash table that receives constant TLC, and is part of his little arcade that we see in the chat sometimes.

Good luck on your new project, and post picts every now and then to let us know how it goes! :)

I'm soo jealous!! If it were me I'd strip the pf flat and clean from there. It's quite savable from what I can see. Good job!!

Shooby Doo:
That's too sweet Faralos! It'll feel real good when you get it up and running. Congrats!

faralos:
stripping it flat is out of the question as some of the metal ball guides are riveted into the pf sides
but I got most of the other cra..stuff off and it is all being hand washed (toothbrushes work wonders
at getting into post crevices, and the drop target  holes, kickers, corners of the pf  etc.)
Do I do restorations? well for about ten years I worked in vending
my specialty being cleaning of pins
and the company I worked for had acquired another company
who did not know the first thing about pin care
so when we got their three hundred plus pins
guess who had to learn real fast how to strip and clean most of them?
restoration came about after we got a lizard king pin
whose pf was so filthy as to look completely black!
the rubbers we thought were black until I started to clean them
only to discover their true color of white or what was once white!
then we got this one flash pin whose pf was redone with sharpies
(magic markers) of all things!
that pissed me off enough to swear if I ever got my hands on one
I never would I mistreat  it like that
 and I won't
